Is it possible to cram 50 years into a single day? Of course it isn’t! But, during more than 50 years of personal and direct involvement with the young, I have made some interesting discoveries along the way.
I have led INSET days in both primary and secondary schools and, beyond my 22 years as CEO of the educational charity Schools Outreach (including 15 years as the charity’s Director of Training), I hope to continue enabling those involved as professionals in schools to go on making similar discoveries; as well as reinforcing the discoveries many will have already made.
What is pastoral care?
Should teachers be expected to become involved in pastoral care? [A primary school teacher told me he hadn’t come into teaching to help children but to teach Geography.]
How, in practical ways, can teachers contribute towards the pastoral care of their students, when there are already too many demands on a teacher’s time?
What part, if any, does confidentiality play?
Are their specific gifts, abilities and personal resources that are necessary to the effective pastoral care of the young?
How may I become better in communicating with children and young people?
My fee for a full day is £250.00 plus travel expenses at 45p per mile. (Herefordshire, Worcestershire & Shropshire schools only.)
