The content of this short course derives from a definition of a problem that was given me during my study of psychology that formed a part of my B.A. degree programme in the 1970s.
I had already been involved in pastoral work with young people for a number of years and the new knowledge and understandings that resulted from putting the principles of this definition into practice showed me how important it is to base one’s practice upon correct and sure foundations.

It would help you to complete this course if you had previously undertaken the ‘Pastoral Care’ and ‘Basic Needs’ courses. This course is designed to stand alone but a great deal follows on naturally from the previous programmes.
The short course includes course notes, reading list and exercise. You also have the option to have your exercise graded and a certificate issued upon successful completion.
